Reinventing the Game of Golf
Golf is at a crossroads. Participation continues to decline. Baby Boomers are getting older, GenXers have less time and Millenials have little interest. Golf has to appeal to more people. Traditionally, golf has offered only a few “products” to its consumers – 18 holes, 9 holes, executive, par 3 and driving range. That’s been it. Golf needs to innovate and bring more choices to golfers. In this day and age, people need more options. Gill Design is designing new products for the golf industry and can help you implement new ideas at your golf course.
GDI Designs Nation’s First FootGolf Course
While some golf course architects speak and write about expanding the footprint of golf, Gill Design is actively designing new features for its clients. Case in point is our work at El Zagal Golf Course in Fargo, North Dakota. We believe El Zagal is the first FootGolf course professionally planned, designed and built. Other FootGolf courses are laid out over existing golf courses. Gill Design and the Fargo Park District included FootGolf in the renovation of its par 3 golf course. Now, the golfers of North Dakota and Minnesota have a new option when it comes to golf.
Gill Design is Creating New Products for the Golf Industry
For golf to really appeal to different segments of society, we need to turn the game on its head. For those that have already tried golf … and rejected it, no amount of gimmicks and promotions will bring them back. We believe that golf needs to change from the ground up. We need to design and build exciting new spin-offs to traditional golf. Gill Design can help your golf course adapt to the changing landscape and offer alternatives to the conventional 18 or 9 hole experience.
