The Course is Flooded
The 2020 golf season opened with water threatening the 5th, 6th and 7th holes. Rainfall over the last five years, including record rainfall in 2019, had filled lakes, ponds and wetlands. Proximity to Sunnybrook Lake and a low basin where #5, #6 and #7 play created an untenable problem for the golf club and its membership.
The situation became particularly dire over the winter of 2019-2020. Despite past attempts by owner Mike Regan to mitigate the situation by engineering berms and pumping water off the golf course, there were no signs the water was receding. In late March, holes #5, #6 and #7 flooded after a 2.5" rainfall.
